Types of Forest We do Birding
As being local guides it allows us to have an intimate knowledge of where to find the birds in Manu so we have been selecting a hotspot sites that optimizes the chances to enjoy watching them of course our concept is " Birding off the beaten track its much better experience"

The Palm Forest at Guadalupe Nature Reserve
The maurithia palm forest at Guadalupe Nature Reserve are an incredible contrast , only a 8 kilometers away from the Pilcopata town (30 minutes by car) this habitats offers a remarkable chance to experience an Amazonian flooded forest , the forest here have remained preserved from the drastic development of the surrounding areas and are now protected under an initiative of the local family and Wild Watch Peru. The Aguajales (mauritia palm forest) form a complex habitat with areas of mauritia palm forest and permanently wet swampy areas. This complexity gives rise to high diversity of birds essentially psittacidos including the endangered blue headed macaw (pionus couloni ) which is found in the remoter more extensive areas , the palm forest its also important nesting site for the Blue and yellow macaws that usually flies above the lodge .

Foothill "Colinas" Forest at Guadalupe Nature Reserve
Just above the Guadalupe river there is a trail leading up along the hills with excellent possibilities for birdwatching , the forest its compound largely by big trees and the understory poorly populated , which assembles to the terra firme forest in the lowlands,

Birding on the higher part of the hills its quite interesting as usually takes an entire morning , it will give us a chances to admire the scenery , a lookout point is available along the route, the birds that have been regularly are ported along the trail are; the golden collared toucanet, masked tanager, fascinated antshrike , red billed pied tanager, ornate and pygmy antwren , rusty belted tapaculo, semicollared puffbird , yellow backed , green and gold , paradise tanager among others. If you are lucky some raptor can be seen such as : harpy eagle.

The Fish Farm dammed creek
The ponds was accidentally created, a creek that emerges out from the forest was damme eventually it have become a huge ponds that have flooded the forest around , once the conditions were favorable and optimal the hoatzin started colonizing the shores as they were coming out from the forest interior as they also live along creeks and swamps , for instance the vegetation around was diying slowly and this a particular habitas for other species of birds such as; flycatchers , woodpeckers and other interesting collection of birds
