Tambopata Peru amazon tour Jungle Tour 4 days
Explore this Peru amazon tour, visiting the Tambopata National Reserve. You will be able to see species such as; monkeys, black Caymans, chances of seeing Giant Otter, Macaws, and various different species of birds. Romantic and relaxing excursions around the lake. We will visit the spectacular Chuncho clay- lick, the largest and definitely one of the most spectacular clay-lick in the world. This is the best combination to enjoy the jungle with active, comfortable and successful excursions.
Lodging and Activities for the Peru amazon tour
We only use lodges that have the best location of the Tambopata River, bordering the Tambopata National Reserve, easy to access to two oxbow lakes (oxbow lakes are the best areas to see wildlife in the Amazon). Condenado lake is close to the lodge. Sachavacayoc is deep in the jungle, spotting Macaws and monkeys. We explore the jungle at night, looking for tapir and other interesting creatures, not to forget large Caymans.
Number of People for Ideal on Jungle Tour
We always have a maximum of 8 people per group standard its 4-6 people in order to maximize the experience. This means a much higher standard operational service and for performing an ideal Amazon Tour in Peru.
Safety while traveling in the Jungle
Despite all the stories rainforest are relatively safe to be in, especially when compared with traffic in the big cities in Peru, nevertheless its necessary to be aware of the dangers. Just as you know that crossing the road without attention. Believe it or not, more people get killed by falling branches and seed-pots than by all the dangerous animals together. Be aware of that especially when its windy and during heavy rains. On top of that, its worth mentioning the major risk while exploring the Amazon Rainforest in Peru.
Below is a list of some of the wildlife that you may encounter while experiencing one our impeccable tours;
Mosquitos (Malaria, Leishmania, Botflies, Dengue Fever)
Prevention its the keyword, always wear long-sleeved shirts and long trousers. Insect repellent is a necessity here. Sleep under the mosquito net provided, repellent on shirt and trousers is advisable. (Be aware of long term effects even a month later.)
Peccaries
Forest pigs, they are shortsighted and that is why they might be dangerous if you hear, smell or see them. Keep a considerable distance and don’t talk much until they go away.
Jaguars
They are very rare and avoid noisy tourist, you are lucky if you see one. Don’t run away because that may provoke these rare creatures. Just observe from a quiet distance. Or if you are scared, we recommend you scream loudly, wave your arms and slowly move backs. The Jaguars will look at you in surprise, raise his shoulders, more than likely decide that you are crazy, and slowly walk away.
Chiggers
Mite larvae, they live in clearings, at forest borders and soccer fields. Their saliva causes strong reactions in humans. Within a day of encounter, their presence can be noticed for days, or even days later. They don’t transmit any disease but cause a lot of scratching, tug your trousers into your socks
Spiders
Not a big deal, fatal spiders live in deserts, tarantulas rarely attack, and if so, are not fatal, their hairs might cause and allergic reaction.
While Swimming
Small Caymans are not likely to attacks but never try to hold them. White caymans have a reputation to be more aggressive, (2 cases of Black Caimans have been reported within Manu along the years).
Piranhas
Piranhas are not a problem, don’t pee in the water while swimming though. You seldom attract the small candiru fish and they might mistake your body openings for the gill openings of a big catfish. Always makes your guides swim first to prove that it is really safe.
Snakes
Scary if seen, but snakes are rare and there are about six fatal species in the region, coral snakes are not likely to attack. Especially not because their fangs are not big enough for it, (between your toes is the most likely the place they will go for, so don’t walk in sandals along the trails).
Bushmasters
Bushmasters might be aggressive, they are territorial and nocturnal and will strike for the heat, just above boots, don’t lower your bumps in the bushes without checking them.
Radio – collared bushmasters have been reported to sleep within half a meter from a trail where tourists walked by without noticing them. We highly recommend you don’t walk off the trails without guidance.
Fer de lance Snakes
Fer de lance snakes are more often seen. They love to check clearings and under buildings for rodents and amphibians. They are aggressive and if disturbed can easily attack.
Be aware specially when walking around the buildings at night always bring your flashlights. If you bitten it is not likely the snake has injected all its venom that would be silly because it might take 2 weeks  to the snake to produce  new supply of venom and humans are not their prey , try to relax , don’t panic , don’t try to suck the venom out by yourself , don’t cut into the flesh ,these practices does not help much.
Our guides carry anti-venom. If bitten you will be assisted and tended to as soon as possible, or be evacuated to the local hospitals. In general, bare this in mind and keep your distance from snakes.
Anacondas
The 1997 movie ¨Anaconda¨was a blessing for the rainforest, it scared people, and it is people who threaten nature, the funny thing about this movie is that it gives people what they already know or what they already think they know. All preconceptions show up, obviously, the filmmakers did not care about facts of the real world.
