Step out of Cusco and into the rainforest in just two days. Our Manu Jungle Tours from Cusco are designed for travelers who want a real Amazon experience—fast—without turning their Peru itinerary into a week-long expedition. In a short time, you’ll descend from the Andes through the cloud forest, cruise rainforest rivers by motorboat, and explore a wildlife-rich oxbow lake in Manu where sightings are common on a regular basis.
This is the kind of trip that proves something most travelers don’t realize: the Amazon is closer to Cusco than you think.
Most “quick jungle trips” sacrifice depth. This one doesn’t. In two days, you’ll experience:
If you’re visiting Machu Picchu or staying in Cusco, this express itinerary lets you add the rainforest without compromising the rest of your trip.
Your jungle immersion begins with a motorized boat ride from the port area, traveling downstream through dense vegetation and river-edge habitats. This part of the tour is not just transportation—it’s an active wildlife corridor.
One of the key reasons this 2-day program works so well is the inclusion of an oxbow lake—a calm, life-filled ecosystem where wildlife observation is often more consistent than in deeper forest trails alone.
Your stay at Guadalupe Lodge is designed to maximize your limited time in the rainforest with a variety of habitats and activities nearby:
This express tour delivers an overland journey that’s part of the experience: in a single day you travel through multiple ecological zones, including the Andes and cloud forest, before reaching the tropical rainforest.
Typical travel time from Cusco to the lodge area is around 6 hours, with scenic stops as needed (restrooms, stretching, viewpoints, photo opportunities). The route offers outstanding views and an impressive introduction to Peru’s biodiversity—from orchids and bromeliads to dense cloud-forest vegetation.
Guadalupe Lodge is chosen for one reason: location. It places you close to rivers, trails, and key activity zones—so your time is spent exploring, not commuting. You’ll also have the comfort of a proper lodge environment where you can rest well between excursions.
Wild Watch Peru designed this original 2-day Manu program after years of leading groups in the Manu National Park region. When time is short, experience matters—because the difference between a “jungle checkmark” and a true Amazon encounter is smart logistics, the right habitats, and guides who know how to use every hour well.
If Cusco is your base, the rainforest is closer than most people imagine. When you only have two days, this is how you do it right.
Wild Watch Peru specializes in time-optimized Manu itineraries. The 2-day program is built from years of field experience, focusing on the right habitats, efficient logistics, and high-value activities to maximize wildlife opportunities in limited time.
Wild Watch Peru focuses on exclusive time-optimized Manu short programs and designs routes around real rainforest experiences (boat travel + oxbow lake + guided jungle activities), not generic stop-and-go sightseeing. Read out article
No. Guadalupe Lodge is an eco‑lodge focused on sustainability and rainforest immersion, not a resort. Because it’s in a remote jungle location, we provide comfortable basics rather than luxury amenities. The lodge is largely powered by solar panels, helping reduce fuel use and overall energy impact. Its main advantage is location: it’s set in excellent habitat and is designed for wildlife observation, often offering better nature access than many other lodges along the Manu route. If you are expecting luxury this lodge is not for you !
By prioritizing areas with consistent wildlife activity—such as river edges and oxbow lake ecosystems—and starting at the best times of day. Short tours succeed when guides know where to go and when, not by rushing randomly. Take a look our article
Transport includes a 4×4 SUV or minivan from Cusco, plus a roofed motorized canoe with life jackets and basic safety equipment.
Smart logistics means less wasted time and fewer unnecessary stops, while still keeping the trip safe and comfortable. It’s the difference between spending your hours in transit versus spending them on the river, on trails, and at the lake.

We LOVED our experience in the Amazon Rainforest and would definitely recommend tagging it onto your Machu Picchu trip. We only stayed in the rainforest 1 night which was pretty quick since it’s about a 5 hour drive in and out without stops (and you’ll definitely take stops to see the wildlife, Incan tombs, etc.). But we started at 5am both days so we were really able to make the most of it! Our driver Simon and tour guide Alexis were such a pleasure to be with, it felt like they were friends by the end!
We picked Manu Jungle Explorer 2 Days tour as we did not have more time. But I wish we could stay longer. It was experience of a lifetime. Our guide was Luis, he was super nice and knowledgeable and he adjusted the program to us. Would definitely recommend! Saw lots of different birds, monkeys, spiders, some frogs, etc … Got to try some new fruit too. Trip on the boat was really cool too. You definitely get a lot for your your money.
We did the 2 days, 1 night program and enjoyed the trip. Day 1 was completely packed with a 6-hour journey, then 40 mins boat ride, then a 60-minute hike through the jungle, followed by a ride on a raft down a small river. We then made our way to our lodge, had dinner, and then did a hike at night. Day 2 was more relaxed but still very fun. While both days were action-packed, we enjoyed our trip. Our guide (Edwin), our driver, and even the group we were in were all phenomenally fun and kind individuals. This was a major highlight of our trip to Perú. Thank you once again for a phenomenal experience!
My husband and I booked the 2 day Manu National Park to start our Peru trip. It was a wonderful experience! Our guide, Edwin, was very knowledgeable and could tell he loves his job. He knew where to look for all the jungle birds and monkeys! We we so lucky and we’re able to see 3 species of monkeys! Edwin also taught us a lot about the trees, plants, and the many agriculture that is grown along the reserve. Our drivers and supporting staff throughout our two days were exceptional! One of the highlights was a nice dip in the river after a long day . Although our visit to the jungle was short, it was perfect for the short amount of time we had in Peru! Muchas gracias !
